Product Updates - July 2021
Welcome to Fauna’s monthly product newsletter! If you didn’t read our update last month, check it out here in the Fauna blog. As always, if you have any feedback or questions regarding product features, please email us at product@fauna.com.
Meet data residency requirements with Fauna Region Groups
Earlier this month, we announced Fauna Region Groups to help application developers ensure they’re complying with data residency regulations like GDPR while maintaining the performance and reliability of databases in their applications. Fauna customers now have access to distinct Region Groups where you can keep data resident to specific, major regions of the globe like EU and US.
To get started, simply create a database and select the Region Group where you’d like to keep your data resident and let Fauna handle the rest. We’d love your input so we can make sure we’re prioritizing future Region Groups that are important for you -- help us by filling out this survey.

Introducing Fauna’s SOC2 Certification
Customer data protection and privacy has been a top priority for Fauna. Over the past year we have doubled down on this commitment by reviewing and improving our internal controls across the board, from our people management to the way that we release software to our application code and production environments. Earlier this year we committed to an external audit of these controls and we’re pleased to share that Fauna’s first SOC2 Type 1 report detailing implementation of the framework prepared by auditors Sensiba San Filippo is available upon request.
For more details about Fauna’s data protection and privacy practices, we have details as well as a whitepaper on our security best practices on our new trust page!
Fauna extension for VS Code
Is VS Code your IDE of choice? If so, leverage the Fauna extension for VS Code to focus on your application and spend less time navigating back and forth between your IDE and browser. You can browse your Fauna databases, run FQL queries, and we’ve recently added basic CRUD and impersonation (AKA “Run As”) functionality.
